Our first post of 2022 is back to the basics – we intend to make this Matterport technology popular in India, through real-life examples of virtual tours that we had scanned recently in Bengaluru. We expect our readers to be either businesses interested in promotion through 3D virtual tours or enthusiasts considering to invest in the Pro2 scanner and economically empowering themselves, whether or not there’s a lockdown imminent.
Our first example is of a showroom in the heart of the city, near MG road. dormakaba is a globally renowned company dealing with access and security solutions, and we’ll let you learn more about it within the virtual tour itself. Notice the Mattertags that give in-depth information on the offerings.
Svāgata (ಸ್ವಾಗತ) means welcome in Kannada, like स्वागत in Hindi. Check out the virtual tour below. Pan around, click to move to the next scan point.
Compared to traditional photos and videos, a 3D virtual tour in Matterport allows you to tell a story with additional information using Mattertags. As a viewer, you are in control – you can learn more about a offering if you click on it, or simply pass through.
The Mattertags typically contain a Title and Description. You can also add a photo or video, if appropriate. While they do not slow down the load time, third-party apps might, in a country where 5G is yet to be launched. In certain cases though, it might be necessary like virtual staging in CAPTUR3D where you can add furniture to an empty house.
It’s not a Saturn’s moon or a pre-Olympian Greek god. Titan is an Indian brand from Tata Group, that is popularly known for selling fashion products including jewellery, watches, eyewear and more. Here, we are looking at a 1,500 square feet Titan Helios store in Koramangala, Bangalore:
Mattertags were not added in this tour since each watch brand has its own story to tell – most of which are popular on the internet already. This is another experience centre like dormakaba that gives you a glimpse of what’s available before contributing to the foot traffic. We are saving retail purchases (within a virtual tour) for another detailed blog post, though.
Matterport tours consists of multiple scans, which can also be downloaded as 360 images and posted to Google Maps (Streetview) so that a user can see the chevrons to navigate to another point in the store. The Pro2 scanner has 134 Megapixels for professional-quality imagery.
So, apart from using a virtual tour to embed in the website or send as a link to potential customers, this can be an innovative digital marketing technique to leverage the world’s largest directory – Google My Business.
360 images are first shown on Google Maps, above any other information of the location. Think of a potential customer driving around looking for a Victorinox watch – he could easily find it with just a few clicks.
Disambiguation – not to be confused with Hattori Hanzo from Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill. This is a company in HSR Layout, Bangalore, that offers managed work space solutions to businesses. Here’s one of their office spaces:
In a world of hybrid working environments, marketing an office space virtually can be the key to stand out from the competition. Combine it with well-optimised Google Ads campaigns, commercial real estate can thrive even during pandemic times.
HSR Layout is an architecturally planned area in the Bangalore, which is closest to the IT companies at Electronics City. If you’re thinking of the bumper-to-bumper traffic congestion, there’s some encouragement in Basavaraj Bommai’s ₹2,000 crore commitement to invest in infrastructure projects every year. We can’t be sure if it’s the BBMP elections coming up or the communication gaffe that made the Chief Minister’s convoy get stuck in peak-hour traffic last Monday.
No, we’re not getting into Christopher Nolan’s movie, The Prestige starring Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman. This is the construction company that is popular for residential real estate in Bangalore and other parts of India. One of their flagship projects is en-route to Nandi Hills, beyond the airport – called Prestige Golfshire.
Conveniently located in the outskirts, the builder targets a niche market of golfers. For those IT professionals looking for a weekend getaway to the resort town Nandi Hills, they’ve planned an upscale accommodation within Golfshire. Partnering with Marriott, here’s a hotel room under construction:
Matterport virtual tours for the hospitality sector is typically for promotion. In this case, we did a quick scan so that our potential customer (Matteport Pro2) could see the point cloud data, as opposed to the Faro Focus scanner they were using already. A new paid feature in Matterport allows us to order BIM (Building Information Modeling) for the spaces that we’ve captured.
Note that the above tour is not branded since it is still under construction. It is a sample for as-built site status, that may also contribute to engineering and insurance efforts. In terms of marketing, it can’t be uploaded in Google Maps, lest it affects their prestige.
With our headquarters based off the garden city, Bangalore, we will be expanding to other zones in India soon. For those who need virtual tour scans in other parts of the country, there are no extra charges for travel and accommodation. We treat all clients equally.
In our endeavour to present the features of the Pro2 in local languages, the key is to scan all over India, to not only create 3D twins of built-up spaces, but also to help create job opportunities for the masses. Everyone stands to benefit. Happy New Year!
